Forensic Consultation/Expert Witness Testimony

Given the high percentage of crimes committed by pathological gamblers, the UGSP has received numerous requests to assist those involved in the criminal justice system. Since 2005, UGSP has been part of ten separate cases, provided expert testimony, neuropsychological testing and forensic evaluation.

Future plans are in the work to continue to educate the legal profession and the courts about the disease concept of pathological gambling and that treatment, rather than incarceration, is a more appropriate disposition for some clients.

Forensic Consultation

At the UGSP, we are acutely aware that individuals diagnosed as pathological gamblers are prone to experiencing difficulties with the criminal justice system. Because of our background and training as scientists and clinicians, we possess the knowledge and skills to provide scientific explanations that clarify the relationship between pathological gambling and criminal behavior. We presently provide the following types of assessment services:

1. Psychiatric assessment
2. Psychological/neuropsychological assessment
